rummaging around in a box of bric-a-brac
nic-nac, objet d'art
when I came across a box that was labelled 'Letters'
with a picture of a little heart
I took a closer look and it made me happy
and it made me a little sad
it was a box full of letters
tied with a ribbon
written by mum and dad
the queens head
the ink red
I opened the letter
and it said:
'I went to the beach and I lay in the sun
and it was groovy'
Mama said groovy
Papa said ooh
Mama said groovy

I don't purport to be the sentimental sort
or pretend to be living in the past
but when you come across a box that is labelled 'letters'
the you know that it was meant to last
now whenever I look it makes me happy and it makes me a little sad
'coz those love letters are wrapped in glad
